ok. im so glad big brother is nearly over. After being introduced to the Sal-lee obsession, ive actually become vaguely interested?! Jaime has to be the daftest speaking guy i've heard (apart from David Beckham) and well.. talking... should be left to the professionals!!

in anticipation for the trip of the (half) year... i am going on annual leave! woohoo! it never felt so good to take time off after working my absolute BUTT-ass- Hiney off for the past 6 months!! "leave" never felt soooo good :)
Heading to melbourne/falls creek this weekend for the WEEK! and as it is going to be simon's 13th birthday (11th anniversary haha-- think its 24 in human years) i think we're going to celebrate it in style with 'you me and dupree'... woohoo. owen wilson never looked so silly!! he's kinda spunky in a crooked nose/ sorta way...

anyhoo...

On the Road Again...

life for the minivan is settling down, after the initial aftermath of the weekend, and the newly single van well... she's driving all round town trying to pick up a wireless broadband signal (jokes)- thats the sort of stuff i sell... anyhoo... i cant help but think of the 'willie nelson' song.. 'on the road again'... to create an analogy of not just what i do with my job, but i guess my life as well...

its midnite. i have been up since 4:30am to catch a flight to melbourne... only to have it be delayed... and well, i wont bore you with the details.

how does one crazy- arty- zany- hairy* asian girl get involved in driving around the east coast capital cities visiting pretty much every single dick smith store there is? (*only added for effect, i'm actually hairless (but not bald you crazies!)

Socceroos, Canberra, Ronan Keating & The FireBrigade!!!

Since my last post, i have scaled all the DSE (for the geeks out there, that is the acronym short for 'Dick Smith Electronics) in Canberra. I have the priveledge of staying with Margie, my dear friend who has made the 'move' to become an official 'canberran' (i dont know if that is related to berries in anyway... ) Ok, some exciting news:

CELEBRITY SPOT:
#1 Lucas Neill at the Marigold ( in sydney chinatown) on Wednesday nite (went there with the fams for my sister's birthday) although im a geek, i wasnt going to be groupie and didnt ask for a photo (he was with there having a quiet meal with his pretty blonde girlfriend).... ok for those who dont know who he is, he's the Soccerroo that was involved in the whole ' penalty in the box' thing with the game against Italy...
ok. he was pretty hunky!! (i reluctantly admit)

#2 Canberra: thought i saw the profile of my favourite boy-band celeb. Ronan Keating.
Starstruck for about 5 minutes i saw him sitting away from Margie and Jason and I eating in very trendy Manuka.. but only after Margie and i saw this guy smile... it was definately
NOT ronan... :(


oh well.

the rainy weather continues here and i cant believe i have forgotten to include the biggest sensational news of the week...

no sallee- as i have reported to you at midnite (perth time) i did NOT burn down the Rangies!!!!!


FIRE!!!!! FIRE!!!!
i have proof of the fire damage, the ENTIRE fuse box at 28A rangies is now WITH
OUT electricity for almost 5 days!!!!!!

FREAKOUT!!!!!!!

i was more disappointed at the fact the fireman didnt come and rescue me- his advice? (as i was standing outside as i saw 'backdraft' style fireman come and hose down the fire (electrical fires should NOT use Water kids! do not try this at home!)-- ' i asked :

V:"What do i do?"
Fireman #1: " Just stay inside and open the window"
V: (walks inside (its still smokey and disappointed no movie style rescue))

perhaps-- if you include shampoo and conditioner in the sale!

ok dudes... jatin, sal-lee, ive got withdrawal symptoms with the thought of mondee nite dinners going to be a thing of the past.. in the near future!

romance at cremorne point-- almost-- with meat pies!

HEY! ... Romance just never stops at the rangies! just jokes.... sal-lee was so kind to have returned from a trip down to 'the beaches' (aka northern beaches) to grab a pie from collaroy -- some famous pie shop (i have had the privelege of dining on take-away pies many a time prior) but this time, it was different. almost 'magic' in the air. the meat pie was fate. sal-lee and i went down to our favourite 'romance' (joke) spot at cremorne point- but mind you--- it is a great spot! for our usual fast food consumption with diet cokes and a wave to the bypassing 'captain cook cruise' ships (we usually wave from the shore hoping someone will wave back--- much to our amusement there are caring souls out there that care to share a 'wave')

ok. what am i on about? basically this is just a really long winded way of saying--- we had pies for lunch and we ate them down at cremorne point and we also 'happened' to have my digicam around to take some silly pickies of our antics!!

enough said. but mind you... i think that is one of the *last times ill get to dine with sal-lee by our favourite *romance* spot..... (sigh)...

*sal-lee is currently conscripted to perth for a period of 2 weeks prior to returning for one week only and then off to the snow and then to Perth (or Perf-- if you're from Penriff! (penrith!).

Food on the Chong Side...

Its saturday nite and all ive eaten today is no-frills self oven baked hot fries with my favourite chicken salt and a diet coke. i've almost thrown up. ....
aside from picking up my snowboard from the surf shop up in crows nest and now sally mentioning eating dominoes... i cant help but wonder why i feel sick.... still!!

alas-- embarassing pictures are my forte-- check www.sallygoeswest.blogspot.com but to share the load, it was sal-lees idea to pose with the diet coke can sculpture/ frame....

anyhoo-- no tears today regarding sal-lee's departure, but as mentioned in the last blog, there are gentle giants e.g. lou- moving in, so it will be a new chapter in the rangies.

Ok. however, life isnt all rosy here on the chong side....
this week- i have eaten chocolate for dinner and tried out a new recipe for pork/veal meatballs. it was a TREAT!
i cooked a dinner for 4, and i had no complaints!!
skins, sal, brendan and i indulged on massive meatballs c/o bill granger' s recipe....

its enough of bad eating habits these past couple of weeks....
its back to chinese greens and tasty vegies!!!!

Vanny's reflections on the news of a new flatmate!?

So, its back again for more postings and more tears. As mentioned in the last blog, my friend, my crazy flatmate, my fellow starwars fantatic (aka landlord) Sal-lee- is departing to go far far away in another galaxy... or for the Western shores of Perth...(close) !!
But to fill the massive shoes she will be leaving behind on August 7 (the fateful day)... dear Lou will be moving in from her frollicking days overseas, romping around the coast of morocco, enjoying the local tasty treats and wishing she brought along some mylanta to ease the 'discomfort' from trying the local 'delicacy'... (fried cochroaches?) but alas, the days of eating cochroaches wont be found at the 'Rangies'. The precarious and humble cosy home, that Sally and I share. (I sound like Sally and i are a couple-- if only!! -jokes) .
Ok, so the ramblings continue, and i have not yet mentioned anything about being a Chong.. OK....
bad jokes aside-- Lou and i will officially become the 'noughties' version of 'twins' ala danny devito and arnie. Ok, so maybe i'm not quite as attractive as danny, and lou is alot less beefcake than arnie, but you get the picture. I"m 5'2 and she's like 6'1. (lads, she's blonde and she's very very Cute!--) postings welcome-- haha. who needs RSVP.com?

ok... so aside from rambling on about trading in the Sal-lee for the tall gentle giant Lou. Life at the rangies* will never be the same.
I think that there is a time in your life when you're asian, single and living the life on the lowernorthshore and you wonder, just wonder what it would be like to be 6'1.

For those that have decided to find out what the heck Van is doing these days--- here is my official Blog. although a closet geek- i have now succombed to expressing my inexplicable (at times) and random ramblings of what it is to be a 'Chong' (chinese person of oriental influence) in the modern ratrace of the western world... aka life in Sydney.

So... what becomes of the young mid-twenties Asian leaning, chopstick using, sushi (all foods) consuming...fast food fantatic?
