Happy 2009.
So much has happened in the last few weeks leading up to and after NYE...
- I worked NYE with COS. I have not worked with the general public before around Macquarie street... but after my 14 hour shift... things were lookin a little hazy... got to see the fireworks in full swing without battling the crowds down at the opera house. cant argue with that!
- Jo & Victor got officially engaged! YAY!
- Witnessed Kath get married to her new husband Kristan. Such a beautiful wedding! I got to pray for them as well, which was an absolute priveledge.
- Saw my sister Mich and Percy storm Sydney and have a massive family wedding party for those (99.9%) who could not make it to their celebrations in Nederlands. FUN! (unofficial photographer duties were a little taxing in 40degree heat for an afternoon tea)
- Spent ALOT of time at Balmoral swimming laps everyday. I havent been this tan since school finished in year 12.
- Keeping busy just cleaning up-- had another shop set up at Rozelle last weekend... made some decent cash, but will likely do it once again before jan ends.
- New friendships growing and Old friendships re-visited... weddings, parties... anything.
- Plus JD & Claire are now engaged too after their trip to Laos!
- Whats in the water?!! Love in the air?! (... puke...)
- Booked my flight to LA on the 5th of February for Asha's wedding on the 7th.
- Planning to spend some travel time for a few months in CENTRAL AMERICA! WAHOOO!!
- Had a mole removed with local anesthetic and scalpel this week too. Looks malignant. Yes. thats what i want to hear.
- Unofficially will find out today whether these itchy bites are really chicken pox. yes siree bob. i think they are.
- Subsequently due to unofficialy Pox, I am missing out on the 'Holiday of Fun' up the coast... and now even more determined to make it to my Melbourne trip next week-- despite Doctor's warnings. Ahhhh.... stuff it! Im GOING!

us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, union;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, Grant that we may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

An Asian woman goes in to her local NAB Branch and begins exchanging her money.
After the transaction is complete she asks the teller 'Why it change, yesterday I get two hunat dollar for my money, today I only get hunat eighty?'
The teller looked over his glasses and says very slowly....'fluctuations'.
The Asian woman narrows her eyes and says, 'fluck you Aussies too'.

bad reporter
why?
cos Crowded House played and they ROcked.
i love neil finn.
He's just well... so talented!
I realise that i am terrible at reporting what actually happens in my life at times and looking at some of my recent posts... i go off on this random etheral (whatever the heck that means) tangent on deep stuff, when really. i just gotta bring it right back down to earth.
i'll try that.

thoughts
this is the first time in years that im actually quite looking forward to the break.
i still am enjoying my job.
what i have learnt though is... you are what you think.
one must capture negative thoughts and toss them in the bin before you get on what i call a 'negative death spiral'.
its kind of comical when you think of a 'death spiral'. a little melodromatic methinks.
anyhoo.
seniors christmas concerts on tomorrow and thursday.
over 40,000 seniors will descend to the entertainment centre over the next 2 days.
HOT! haha. not.
zimmer frames, hip replacements, hunched backs galore.
our ageing population is certainly growing.
cant wait!
Thomas Merton.
I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I
think that I am actually following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and will never leave me to face my perils alone.”

'if' by rudyard kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)
