Where am I??

swimming along...

so i had my first official shift at the pool all on my own this arvo. i was teaching ' piranhas' and ' snappers'. no, this isnt an episode of 'rex hunts fishing world' (now i hope people dont google rex hunt and my blog comes up, but the more times i type it in, the likelihood just mite rise-ok, back to the point).

im being reacquainted with the 'levels' of swimming ability at the WLC> (willoughby LC) and again for the sake of not incriminating myself i wont type it out.

ok. so... i'm just a paranoid adwords internet swimming instructor FREAK.

but what i love about working part time (aside from the fact you get a heck of a lot of free time in between shifts to do other stuff, instead of just evenings and 2 days on the weekend) is that...

I LOVE TEACHING SNOTTY KIDS HOW TO SWIM!

Ok, so its day 1 and i'll probably hate it by friday afternoon when the next kid pisses me off with not listening and insisting on trying to 'dive' when really, all they're achieving is bellyflopping all over the place.

im kinda worried that i'll enjoy this too much and wont want to get a 'real job'. being back at the WLC is strange because it was my uni job, but in reality, its people's 'real job' everyday and some of the people i saw today were there when i first worked in 2001. boy times flies.

its kinda almost hard even to articulate to the few that have asked me what i've been doing since. i said 'travelling'. i guess i was, although i have worked in sydney for the majority of the past 6-7 years!? i guess travelling is an easy answer. it kinda covers all spectrums, being plain enough for people to understand and vague enough to not have to go into any detail.

better than explaining... well...' ive gone from event management to gondola/crowd control activator, designer of costumes and sets, full time student to full time crazy IT sales person and ad sales in media'. now i'm back the pool.

i could be teaching the next thorpedo. or... i could be caught drinking his heinous 'energy drink'-- think it was extracted from 'pure pool water with added food colouring' to boot (it was a sponsored product one year for one of our running events, and i dare say, they were gross, but being *free takes out the grossness)

so randomness aside. im feeling significantly more connected with the world with swimming teaching (i think i really enjoy the fact that im left to my own space to teach the kids without being harassed-- AUTONOMY. oh i like that)

that and we had a great connect group tonite at the chappos. we're looking at where we want to head with our walk with God this year. thats always an exciting, encouraging space to be in. surrendering to the holy spirit was a big one for most in the group. i think we're going to learn about that. now... thats going into pente territory! not for the faint hearted anglicans :P (as i raise my hands and shout out Hallelujah!) although i have heard about these charo/anglican churches out there which im yet to experience.

for someone who has gone the full spectrum from anglican, baptists, vineyard, presby, catholic, church of christ... its always a treat to learn more about God and see where others are coming from too :)
