meditation

it was my 3rd week of participating in 'christian meditation' tonight at church.
it was lovely.
i am really connecting with God and the silence in these times.

God is not only in nature. but in the silence.

i like it. lots.

What form are you practicing?

its based off teachings from John Maine-- a benedictine monk who was alive in the last century. im still really new, but its really cool. do you practise meditation?

Yes but tend not to go for the mantra stuff. Preference is more towards unstructured approaches, meditating on God's word, God's works and, well, just listening. I take my teaching on that directly out of Psalms as well as New Testament stories and letters.

Have the occasional peak experiences but I place more weight on deepening in faith, hope and love as my measure of how I'm going. When I go for something more structured I find the prayer of examen quite helpful, particular since it emphasizes becoming more conscious of God in everyday life.

thanks for sharing that.
what is the prayer of examen?

and how do you measure your 'deepening in faith, hope and love'?

i like your blog/ website. looks like youve been watering your garden very well-- meaning-- youve got a very comprehensive plethora of interesting thoughts and topics covered in relation to your faith amongst others!

The Prayer of Examen is from St. Ignatius and is a method of reviewing the day - what we said, thought, did, etc.
