Cabin FEVER- Driving to Canberra!!

Seriously guys... i was getting some serious 'cabin fever' upon driving down to canberra on Thursday--- ok, blame it on the cocacola, blame it on the mcflurry... or just blame it on the BOOGIE!!!! I had to include an MJ catchphrase somewhere here!

I was exhausted from another full-on week of working for the man.. and well, to top it off, its my b'day this weekend--- so i was looking forward to my party (last nite) which went ORF! Thanks for those that came and enjoyed in the frivolity! will post up pics soon of the evening... and special guests.... 'mouzie #1 and mouzie #2'.....

Sometimes Lou and I just have WAY too much time on our hands--- this is one adventure-post Beach visit on saturday!

4:30am start-HOTCAKES--& i missed my flight to melbourne!!!!!

what is with waiting for flights and updating my blog as i sit at gate36 at sydney domestic airport?
I was even at the airport ON TIME 6am checked in!!!!!!! sometimes i think that running late.. and rushing gets the job done... i think i got complacent because my flight was at 6:45... and i was still sitting enjoying my mcdonalds at 6:35am.... MAN those HOTCAKES were GOOD!!!!!
i guess as the lady at the counter said... S*&t happens!! But apparently i've got a great attitude about it... and i was even smiling-- laughing about it! although having to fork out another $300 to fly out an hour1/2 later... :S the boss knows... so its all good! i had a brief 'sept11' moment--- what happens if that flight i missed gets hijacked by aliens? thats right. i wasnt meant to be on that flight. or perhaps i'm just being melodramatic.... :P
thats my gripe for today, but considering i'm flying so often... i guess it was bound to happen at least once!! i hope it doesnt happen again!!!!!!!

dudes, its live blogging from Monday Nite Madness- I decided to spice things up with my balloon animal skills for fun!!! Lou and Jatin both have their own ' Swans..' although it looks like something else...... hmm.... (sus) and i made us 'dick' hats... need i explain?? :P Sal-lee we miss you!!!!!!!!

Jatin came over to be our kitchen bitch at the rangies.... and cooked us dinner!!! NACHOS with this awesome Guacamole recipe from his friend at work!!!

Here it is for those that love cooking! and recipes!?! Sharing is Caring!

Ingredients:

1. 2-3 ripe avocados
2. 1/2 cup finely minced red onion (spanish)
3. 1 finely minced jalapeno chile (remove seeds and white stuff)
4. 1/4- 1/2 cup chopped fresh coriander
5. 1 ripe lime and or lemon
6. coarse sea salt (measure to taste- start with 1/4 teaspoon)
7. 1 Med ripe vine tomato diced & remove seeds & pulp

1) Prepare your ingreidiends - keep in separate bowls if possible

• chop onion, put in own bowl
• chop chilli
• chop & wash fresh coriander- take as much stem off as possible
• cut tomato into 1/4s- remove the seeds & slimy pulp, then dice into small pieces- no more than 1cm cubed.
• roll your lemon/ lime on the counter and apply pressure with your hand to get the juices loose!

2) Cut avocado out of shell, remove seed, coarsely chop into big chunks- smash it, put into a big plastic bowl

3) Add Lemon/ lime over avocado- this will prevent it from turning brown
4) Add onion, ( a bit at a time), then Chilli, Tomato and Coriander. Mix Well
5) Add salt to taste, pepper if desired and a bit of sour cream... coriander to garnish if you want to impress! --

Taste should be fresh and summery!

90210 reunion, kayaking... and a trip to cockington green!!!! (canberra)

what is with visiting canberra and crazy antics?? Margie and I took a 'drive' to cockington green monday arvo... it closed at 4:15... but we thought we'd go cruise over considering daylight saving makes you think 7pm is actually 3pm in the afternoon! I LOVE IT!



We encountered: local sheep (margie's nickname is 'Sheepy' c/o- Jason- her b/friend! :D), a crappy dinosaur (lets call him DINO), great 'country club' signs... beautiful flowers and poppies :D , and scary new housing developments (cardboard cutouthomes) in 'gunghalin'... a new suburb in canberra!! We didnt get to see inside the miniature world of Cockington green (such childhood memories!) this time, (it costs $15!!) but perhaps next time!!! We enjoyed the drive to this historic litle place!... (its pretty dinky, but thats alllllllll good!)... perhaps next time... ' 3 for fun in canberra ticket!'!!

DINNER for Margie and I was FISH AND CHIPS!! THEY WERE AWESOME! 2 lots of Fishand chips, 1/2 dozen POTATO SCALLOPS and 1/2 dozen CALAMARI RINGS! The guy taking our order double checked to see if it was just for us! i gave him a straight face and said YES!!!!! ( considering i missed out on MND- sorry Jatin & Lou! but i think they enjoyed the 'time alone' with their 'guitar lesson'.... haha just teasing guys!! i know you missed my yellow ass!!!! hahahahah) YUM!!

Other adventures last week... was a Beverley Hills 90210 style reunion with friends i havent seen in AGES..... (apparently its Jamie, Dani and I combined- the asians!!-- the girl 2nd from the right)... hahah



We hung out at the 'Firestation' at Northsydney... an old haunt of the vanny in the north sydney working days... but it was great to see Jamie, Dougs, Pip and Dave, Jane, Edo + Kath & Skins! ... I even got to hear about Dave's band 'Revive' they're launching their 2nd album... they're way cool--- i'm going to plug them on the blog... check them out at their myspace website...

Also, to complete the Vanny gets fit for summer... (and to celebrate ending the 60 day non-chocolate eating/ice-cream consuming Fast).... I went Kayaking at Manly on Saturday with my dear friend WHITNEY (not houston... but she's from Houston TX!)!! It was hard work... but way fun!!

anyhoo.. i dont want to mention that again. but thought i'd share the pain...


although, i got to drive a less than crappy hyundai excel... i got to drive (it was still a hyundai).. but a TUCSON. now... this car was crap, but it was up a notch from crap!!! it was a crap 4WD!! yay!! i was probably upgraded because im renting cars so much these days!! and for the first time i was in melbourne for 3 days instead of 2.

As mentioned in previous posts.. i have become 'Van-Tan(ner)'
... and have become the official adopted daughter from China of SFT and AT (or T-Dawg) hahahahaha as Si-Tan so aptly calls his (our) mum! hahahahahahah

Thanks for the recipe tips for the corn relish/sour cream dip Anne! and the noodle recipes... and chocolate spiders... i will be making those in haste very soon!!

ok... so i have run dry on blog entries...
now. i am happy to post info regarding MND, in which Jatin did a GREAT VEGIE CURRIE. I give the meal 3 1/2 stars this time.... i only marked you down because the rice was a bit soggy... and the curry was good... but not enough for the van-nee! (ok, so i'm a piggy, but who didnt already know that?)

So what am i doing this time? Im wandering the streets of Melbourne on a 3 day work trip...

MNM-- or MND!! Pick your Acronym!

Ok, Monday Nite Menue for this week or Monday Nite Dinners as it has been traditionally known had turned into a somewhat 'Take Away' feature for this week...
Thats only cos Lou got to test drive a vehicle on Mondee nite, so she couldnt cook... but that was ok, because Jatin and I turned loose on the 'entertainment bookvoucher-for the cheapskates-out there' and we got a buy one large pizza & garlic bread and get one free! so we got 2 of each... only for $15!!! BARGAIN!
We had of course... one pizza purely vegorama/ cheeze for J-man and the Supreme...
Man, that garlic bread was the best thing ever! Of course after Vanny protested we drive up to the dominoes (its like a 20sec drive away)... Lou and Jatin won the vote to walk... anyhoo, lets just say there was one less garlic bread by the time we got home.... i was STARVIN MARVIN!
ok. i never thought id get so excited about dominoes pizza. but here tis!

Giant Chongs, Gary Coleman & Great Weather

Ok folks, i stumbled across this picture of a GIANT CHINESE DUDE trying to make it into the NBA. No, he's not my BROTHER, nor is he my COUSIN! haha, but seriously though, he is MASSIVE as you can tell from this picture of his hand on a life size basketball!!! Poor dude, he has suffered from some weird disease that has pumped copious amounts of a growth hormone.. i mean... hes 7foot 5inches!! he's like more than 2 feet 3 inches taller than me!! crazy! (maybe gary coleman needed some love on that front!-- that or he was only 2feet 3 inches himself!)

Aside from that, the Van-nee spent a wonderful weekend hanging by the beach staying at the Colloroy conference centre with my dearest friends from NCC (Northside Community Church) ! They are an awesome bunch of people and it was the best weather! (will post pics soon)

Clubbing... Grandmas.. and apparently... Blingers!

Ok, so the VAN again has disproved the theory of being a 'Grandma' and went along with the Jatin & Co Convoy ala 'God's Kitchen' night at 'Home' ... (haha, how funny these trendy niteclubs with such a name-- the irony!)... Now, i haven't been clubbing since-- goodness knows when... probably since i last dated DJ TimmyJ... circa 1998- 2001.... most of you who are reading this did not know me then!! So.... to make this blog funny-- this is not a picture of me clubbing:

HOWEVER.... for those that enjoyed finding out whether you're an ENFJ or a ENFP or an ACDC personality (see post) haha... i have another online quiz, much less scientific but way more exciting, random and funny!! Let me know which "TRIBE" you belong to!!

Now, apparently im a BLINGER with signs of a 'Townie' and a...'Clubber!'...thats right! now, i dont know if the results were skewed by the fact i just went out on Sunday nite-- till 6am! what an effort! AND i managed to cook Monday nite dinner!!

Monday nite Menue (2/10/06)
DISH: Red Curry with vegies (and chicken meat side)- however it appeared much more like a Green Curry?!-- anyways, no complaints from the Crew... which is gradually morphing into quite a group!
Lou, Jatin, Fi, Artem and Van participated in the evenings festivities of 'Australian Idol' and the new series of 'The Biggest Loser' ... and re-visiting embarassing emails of lou's 'friend''s inbox whom we wont name names with questionable pictures of girls in their brassieres and other strange outfits!- gross!! ARGH! and no... we dont have any issues with privacy when one blatantly leaves them ready and waiting to be read!...)

Also though, to start the " Monday Nite Menue Review" or 'MNM Review'(for short)...
I will review last week's (25/09/06) meal created by Jatin... Dish: 'Vegetarian Lasagne' and give it 4 1/2 Stars :D WELL DONE! Tasty!
